This is a very nice edition of this book. The print is a nice size, the cover is very pretty, and there is additional information in the back such as a glossary, etc.

The book contains: A characters guide with all the major characters, something that helps tremendously to keep them all at bay and not mix them up or forget names. A chronology with a timeline of key events in the story, superb to take a peek if you've forgotten an important event. Regency etiquette and social customs, to make it easier for us modern readers to understand the rules at that time. Facts abut P&P and Jane Austen. A fun little thing to gain more knowledge about the book and author- A glossary, helpful when one doesn't know what a certain thing is. And lastly, a book club guide that has questions you can discuss to reflect upon the book. These extras makes it easier, more fun, and more enjoyable to read the book. Having read about many not understanding this literary classic, this edition can be an immense help to make it easier. I loved this new edition! The updated spelling and punctuation made it easy to understand, and the information on the Regency era, overview of plot points, and glossary of terms are very useful. I will certainly recommend it to anyone who is reading Pride and Prejudice for the first time! The cover is also beautiful. I love the cover! Jennifer Altman did a great job with the light editorial changes for a better reading. The 39 pages of extra material are helpful to understand the context of the novel.

An excellent new edition for a timeless classic! The cover is refreshing and inviting without giving way to the cheesy romance covers that are gracing many historical novels these days. I appreciate that Austen’s text is left alone to shine as bright as it always has. The author of this one has only added emphasis on certain words and phrases to help the reader understand what’s going on, why it’s important, or even to foreshadow future events. I also found that those emphasis helped me to really see how Austen was shaping her characters early on in her novel. For example, reading the conversation after the first assembly and having Charlotte’s dialogue emphasized led me to see that Austen was pointing out her practically and differences from Elizabeth earlier than I remembered.The real jewels are found at the back of the book with the brief character descriptions, timeliness, primer for social customs, glossary, and book club discussion guide. These will be so helpful for readers who aren’t sure of this time period and will help them to understand why the characters behaved (or why it was a big deal when they didn’t behave) as society expected them to. These sections will prove quite useful for high school students or book club members discovering this book for the first time as well as readers who have read it many times without truly understanding the social nuances and the language of the time.I also loved the included facts about the novel and Jane Austen herself. Can’t ever have enough little trivia facts about them!All in all, this is now one of my favorite editions of my favorite novel. I highly recommend it for new and old readers alike!

I love this book!!!!! It has always been one of my favorite Jane Austen novels, but this new rendition has completely captivated me. My favorite aspect is the bonus materials!!!!! The Character Guide was concise and extremely entertaining.The Chronology section was an amazing summary of the significant events, especially when you realize that all these events took place in about a years time.My favorite bonus section is the Regency Etiquette and Social Customs. This type of information has always been of a particular interest to me and after reading all these amazing details, it really helped me understand everything a little better and helped me feel more connected to the whole story. Additionally, learning about the ways people were expected to act seems very hilarious, compared to nowadays. The Novel at a Glance section was also particularly informative and entertaining, especially when making comparison from the past to current day. The Glossary will be especially helpful for new readers or those not as experienced with this type of writing. It explains the definitions of historical words in current language. Also, for those persons that enjoy book clubs, the Suggestions for Book Club discussions has some very interesting and thought-provoking questions that should spark some very interesting chats! Overall, this version of the book was very appealing aesthetically and gave me a deeper appreciation the entire story.

Such a beautiful and eye-catching edition! I’ve read the book many, many times (I’m a bit obsessed), so the notes and character summaries didn’t contribute much to my experience, but my daughter found them valuable and made the book more accessible to her. A great edition to use for a book club!

I enjoyed the clever use of type and font variations to signal exchanged letters, and the bonus material offers something for everyone — from first-time Austen readers to those who consider her work an old friend. I highly recommend this edition, and love how the included explanations and glossary make Pride & Prejudice accessible to even more readers.

There are so many things to love about this new edition of Pride and Prejudice from Box Hill books.The first thing I adore is the absolutely stunning cover. Readers were invited to weigh in on several design options. The bright blues and the warm coral tones surrounding Pemberley immediately drew me in, and I knew this had to be the cover (it won by an overwhelming majority!). I love Pride and Prejudice, so having a vote as a big fan was extra special to me.The story is the same we all know and love, but each chapter has little flowered artwork that draws the eye, and the exchange of letters is set apart in a script font. What fun little details!The really special part is what is included at the end. There is a character description listing, a timeline of events, Regency customs, FAQ on Pride and Prejudice and Jane Austen, and a glossary of terms. I have taught this story to 10th graders, and as much as they enjoyed the story, they did say how it was a tough read, there are a lot of characters, and because the story passes a large period of time, it was hard to tell how long it was from Mr. Darcy's insult to him finally marrying Elizabeth Bennet. These thoughtful additions would be a game changer for a first-time reader!This new edition is both stunning on the outside and practical on the inside.

A very enjoyable version of Pride and Prejudice enhanced by each note and letter in the story appearing as handwritten script. Several very helpful aides follow the text including a thorough glossary of words little known today or with different meanings, a brief section on Regency Etiquette and social customs as well as an outline of the major characters and a chronology of the key events. There is also a list of questions for a book club discussion! This is an excellent choice for both the first time reader of a Jane Austen novel or an avowed Janeite returning to their one of their favorites for the umpteenth time!

The best part about this edition is that the letters are typed in cursive writing and one can tell the difference between the letter and the text. It truly gives the reader the idea that they are reading a personal letter. The fun facts about the novel makes this edition fun and interesting; the glossary and the Regency Etiquette and Social Customs section is informative and acquaints new readers with information about regency societal norms. Overall, this edition is simple but has everything it needs.

Wonderful edition of Pride and Prejudice. This Box Hill edition would be such a lovely gift for readers new to Jane Austen, with the helpful glossary and timeline. The cover is so pretty, and I appreciate the light editing. Bravo! A fantastic addition to anyone's personal library.

Not only is the cover adorable, but it feels like a modern novel. The font size is perfect. So often reprinted classics are in a tiny font to keep page numbers lower for pricing, but, unlike this version, they are a struggle to read. I love that this edition includes in-story letters in script, which makes it feel fancy. It's a thick book, which I like, too. The supplemental materials are fantastic: helpful without being pretentious. I don't want to read analysis or scholarly works, but love materials that make sense of the text and teach me something in a straight-forward way. As a teacher, I know students would appreciate the glossary (clear and thorough explanations of not just individual words, but of regency-era phrases) and the timeline, as well as notes on etiquette & social customs. As a reader, I found the materials interesting, and learned a bit, as well. Going back to the cover, my early-20s daughter said it's so cute that her friends, who care about how the covers look on their shelves, would love this edition.

This is a beautiful new cover for the classic and universally loved book of Pride and Prejudice.I have read this book numerous times, but not all editions contain informative text that would make the reading experience better. I would especially recommend the section titled “Regency Etiquette and Social Customs.” I appreciated the concise and simple language used to explain the norms of the Regency era. For instance, why was Darcy so adamant on being connected to the Bennets? And why is Lydia’s elopement so scandalous? I have so many versions of Pride and Prejudice that I should probably be banned from owning more. That said, this is such a great addition to my ever growing collection. I love the aids at the back of the book and had I had this when I first started reading the classics, I think it might have made a bit more sense to me. :) I think this would be perfect choice for educators to have as an option when they teach the book as the formatting is nice, the art is adorable, and the notes are helpful and easy to follow!In my case, I have a young teenage daughter who is just now wanting to dive into the classics but has so many questions about the time period. Because I have my way of waxing eloquent about this topic that involves a whole lot of me nerding out about a certain BBC production and going on various tangents of ridiculousness, these notes are perfect! They are concise and I enjoyed going through them. Also loved the glossary and the etiquette portions. All very valuable to know— the things readers took for granted at the time this book dropped, but that we, as modern readers with modern sensibilities, don’t necessarily know.Love it and looking forward to more Austen favorites. Hoping Box Hill eventually has an Austen boxed set. The more the merrier. ❤️

This version not only contains Pride and Prejudice one of best romantic novels of all time but also additional information. The book is great if you are new to the world of Jane Austen and Pride and Prejudice and want to get a feel for regency period.5 stars for the original pride and prejudice novel.4 stars for the extra informationPride and Prejudice is one of my all time favorite novels and it could be viewed as not founding father by the female equivalent of romantic novels. In my opinion an absolute must read classical novelThere is a brief description of all the main characters, a short timeline of key events, a description of regency etiquette and social customs, fun facts about the novel and facts about Jane Austen, Glossary and questions for use in a book club.

As a huge fan of Pride and prejudice, I truly appreciate the effort this edition put in to introduce this classic farther and further. I do not care for the polishing of the spelling and punctuation since I have read this gem so many times and some of the mistakes JA neglected only made the story more intimate to me. However, I believe the tidy format and light annotation do help new readers to dive in more easily.Different opinions at war regarding the Character Guide and Chronology when reading. As someone who detests spoilers, I cannot decide whether the Character Guide is something helpful for readers at first try or something that encourages readers’ prejudice against these characters; I would try to say that one of the greatest enjoyments in reading JA’s novel is that I got to know each character more upon each reading and that no one in the story can be described just in a few words; it is the amazing observation of human kind that makes JA’s story masterpiece; which is also the reason that I like the part of Book Club Guide.IMHO, Jane went to the Gardiners in London should be included in the Chronology as that event leaded to Darcy’s action which he himself later on felt out of his own principle and character.Bonuses of Regency Etiquettes and Social Customs bonus / Novel at a Glance / Author at a Glance make this edition a reference book.
